What it is

A talking avatar is a still photo or a generated character that speaks a voice track with matching lip movement. SoeMind has two routes. Standard lip-syncs a photo to a recording of up to about 60 seconds. Advanced films a short performance of your character with real hand gestures and head movement, then matches the mouth to a recording of any length up to 10 minutes, so a founder update, a lesson or a product walkthrough comes out as one video.

The voice can be a recording you upload, a clone of your own voice made from a 30-second sample, or one of 30 generated voices. Languages include English, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malay, Burmese, Japanese and Korean. Captions are free, and the finished video can be published as a draft to Facebook, Instagram or TikTok.

How to make one

  1. 1

Upload a clear photo of one person, face visible (JPG, PNG or WebP up to 20 MB), or pick a character from your project's asset registry.

  2. 2

Add the voice: upload a recording (MP3 or WAV up to 100 MB), generate a voiceover in the Voiceover tool, or clone your own voice from a short sample.

  3. 3

Choose Standard for a short clip or Advanced for any length with gestures. Add an acting direction if you like, such as "calm, leaning slightly forward, occasional open-palm gestures", and pick the lip-sync engine.

  4. 4

Read the credit price on the button, then generate. Advanced listens to your recording first so the performance matches how you actually speak.

  5. 5

Download, add free captions, or publish a draft to your connected social accounts and approve it there.

About the example above

A presenter clip generated in SoeMind from a still character and a generated voice, then lip-synced. The same pipeline runs with your own photo and your own recording.

Models, voices and languages

  • Lip-sync engines: VEED v2 (default), HeyGen v3 precision, sync-3, PixVerse and VEED v1, priced per second of audio.
  • Own-voice lip-sync for short clips: InfiniteTalk, a flat price per run of up to 60 seconds.
  • Advanced performance clips: Gemini Omni films the gestures; Seedance 2.0 makes short talking clips with a generated voice.
  • Voices: 30 generated voices, or your own voice cloned from a 30-second sample; recordings in any language are used as they are.
  • Output: 9:16, 16:9 or 1:1; free captions in English, Thai, Burmese and more; the whole thing can also be driven from ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor through the SoeMind connector.

What it costs

Credits come from the live price book, the same numbers the Generate button shows. 1 credit = $0.01. Typical examples:

Limits to know

  • One person per photo, face clearly visible; sunglasses, heavy motion blur or a tiny face make detection fail.
  • Standard route: recordings up to about 60 seconds (30 seconds on OmniHuman). Longer audio needs Advanced.
  • Advanced route: recordings up to 10 minutes; the finished video is exactly as long as the audio.
  • A photo of a real person needs that person's consent, and public figures are not accepted. See the AI content policy.
  • Generation takes minutes, not seconds: a 60-second Advanced avatar typically renders in a few minutes.

Common problems and fixes

The mouth does not match the words.
Use clean speech without music or background noise (the free Clean audio tool removes hum and room noise), and prefer WAV or MP3. Lip-sync follows the loudest voice in the track.
The face was not detected.
Use a front-facing photo at a higher resolution with the whole face visible and nothing covering the mouth.
The recording is too long for Standard.
Trim it with the free trim tool, or switch to Advanced, which takes any length up to 10 minutes.
The performance clip was refused by the image model.
The refusal reason is shown. Rephrase the acting direction, or let the agent switch the base model; nothing is charged for a refused run.

Questions

›Can the avatar speak with my own voice?

Yes. Upload a recording and the avatar speaks it as recorded, or clone your voice from a 30-second sample and have it read any script.

›Which languages work?

Any language in a recording, since the mouth follows the audio. Generated voices cover English, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malay, Burmese, Japanese, Korean and more.

›How long can the video be?

Standard: about 60 seconds per clip. Advanced: up to 10 minutes from one recording, as one video.

›What does a one-minute avatar cost?

The table above shows the live numbers: lip-sync is priced per second of audio and the short performance clip is a fixed amount. The Generate button shows the exact total before you run.

›Can I use a photo of a real person?

Only with that person's consent, and never a public figure. The AI content policy applies and uploads need a one-time content agreement.

›Can I make it from ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes. Connect SoeMind as a connector and ask for an advanced talking avatar; the agent quotes the credits and runs it in your project.
